Core value 2 – We live in a covenant of fulfillment

,

There are more than 365 prophecies about Jesus that are fulfilled during his life on earth. There are at least 15 specific references in Matthew referring to fulfillment of prophetic words about Jesus.

Scriptural Foundation:

Matthew 1:22-23
Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”

Matthew 2:15
So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt. 15 He remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”

Matthew 2:17-18
Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:
“A voice was heard in Ramah,
Weeping and great mourning,
Rachel weeping for her children;
And she refused to be comforted,
Because they were no more.”

Mark 1:15
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Mark 14:49
Every day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me; but this has taken place to fulfill the Scriptures.”

Luke 1:45
Blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.”

Luke 4:21
And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

John 12:38
This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet which he spoke: “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

John 17:12
While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.

Acts 13:33
God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son; today i have begotten You.’

What this means, aka the truth:

  • God wants to fulfill our prophetic encounters
  • God is working on our behalf to cause all things to emerge for our good
  • God invites us to partner with Him and our community to make progress towards fulfillment
  • We learn to do our part and learn to let God do His part

What this doesn’t mean, aka the lies:

  • God is obligated to fulfill our prophetic words how we think he should
  • The fulfillment process will be easy peasy
  • God will fulfill ALL our prophetic words without our partnership
