Your identity in Christ: Galatians 2

Galatians 2:1-21

Suggested usage:

1. Allow the anointing of the author’s revelation to saturate your soul as read these identity truths.
2. Turn each truth into a personal identity statement by changing “You” to “I”.
3. Identify which truths affect you more when you read it.
4. Write one of the truths that penetrate your heart the most on your bathroom mirror so you can see it everyday and declare it about yourself using both “you” and “I” statements.

 


 

v1-5
You have the wisdom to discern false believers.
The gospel you believe can come under attack but if you surround yourself with true believers and leaders, you can keep one another accountable to the true gospel.

v6
You don’t need to put any leader on a pedastool.

v7-8
God has entrusted you with his message to a specific purpose.
You will be empowered by God to the extent that he has called you.

v9
You can and should be acknowledged, seen, and empowered by other leaders.
You can be aware of and acknowledge the grace of God on other believers.
The grace of God on your life should be seen and recognized by other believers.

v10
You are called to remember the poor.
There should be an underlying eagerness, drawing you to your calling and godly things.

v11
You have the humility and courage to speak directly to other believers you have a relationship with who are missing the mark (not behaving according to the truth of the gospel).

v11-14
You are a light-bringer to situations among believers that have escalated to esteemed leaders missing the mark (not behaving according to the truth of the gospel).
You do not need to fall into the same trap other believers fall in because of fear (usually the fear of man).
When God open your eyes to your brothers’ inconsistency in the actions of truth, he may be leading you to have a conversation.

v15-16
You are justified by your faith in Jesus Christ (not by your own effort to follow the rules).
You have put your faith in Christ for the very purpose of receiving God’s approval.
You know in your heart, in your spirit, that you will not and cannot be approved by God by you own good deeds, if you are doing them for that purpose.

v19
You have tried to gain God’s approval through your own efforts and you have experienced it’s futility.
You now have the opportunity to live for God.

v20
You have been crucified with Christ and you no longer live.
Christ lives in you.
The life you now live in the body, you can live by faith in the Son of God.
You are loved by the Son of God.
The Son of God gave his life for you.

v21
You have recieved the grace of God. Don’t set it aside.
If you keep trying to win God’s approval through you own efforts, then you have set aside the grace of God.
If you do that, you have made Christ’s death for you of no effect.
